Monica Boner (biography)

A significant part of Monica’s life has been the dedication of her time and energies to helping others.  Starting more than 20 years ago as a Red Cross volunteer at the 121st Evacuation Hospital in Seoul, Korea, she continues to give to meaningful and personal causes.  Monica came to the Rotary Club of Washington, D.C., as the Club’s Administrator in 1996.  In that capacity she worked closely with the Club and Foundation’s programs while maintaining the day-to-day activities of the organization.

In 1999 Monica was named an honorary Rotarian.  She joined as a full-time Rotarian in 2001 when she became Director of Marketing for Security Storage Company, whose leadership has served the Club since 1919.  Elected to the Club Board for a three-year term, she served two years until becoming Club Secretary in 2005-2006.  Monica has co-chaired the Program and Fellowship committees and served on many others.

In her capacity at Security, Monica also manages special projects, such as logistics for the World Bank & IMF Annual Meetings in Singapore in 2006, a 2008 renovation of the Company’s administrative headquarters, built in 1925, and the Company’s charitable endeavors including its annual programs with the National MS Society.

Monica became the first woman member of the Rotary Club of Washington to be named Rotarian of the Year in 2006 and one of the youngest presidents the Club has seen since it was established in 1912.
