I originally hail from Connecticut, but I come to DC by way of Morocco and Jordan—respectively, the country I lived in from 2019-2020 and the country I’m living in now. For undergrad, I went to the University of Chicago, where I studied Arabic and the Middle East with a concentration on North Africa. Once I finished, I moved to Tangier, where I studied Arabic through the Critical Language Scholarship. I then stayed in Meknes and continued my studies through the Boren Scholarship before COVID-19 formed me to return to the United States. From there, I landed in DC in May of 2020, and I joined the Rotaract Club not long afterwards in July 2021. I worked in corporate risk analysis until August 2022, when I moved to Amman, Jordan to conduct research as a Fulbright Scholar.
That brings me to now. In Jordan, I focus on the relationship between Syrian refugees and small nonprofits in Jordan. I’m also a Non-Resident Fellow at the New Lines Institute for Strategy and Policy and a 2023 Foreign Policy for America NextGen Fellow—both of which have helped me hone my career path. When I return to DC this August, I am excited to begin a Master’s in International Relations at Johns Hopkins SAIS, and I’m thrilled to rejoin Rotaract DC!

I grew up in Williamsburg, VA and first became involved with Rotary through the Rotary Club of James City County Scholarship. That scholarship contributed to my education from the University of Virginia, where I studied Economics and Computer Science. After graduation, I worked in economic consulting and at a local startup, before joining Capital One as a Sr. Business Analyst. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, testing out new fitness classes, and trying my best at trivia nights. I joined Rotaract in 2021 and have enjoyed the opportunities provided for serving the community and meeting fellow young professionals in the area.

Born and raised in San Diego, CA, Julia was introduced to Rotary through her involvement in the Miss Rancho Bernardo Scholarship. In college, Julia continued her involvement at San Diego State's Rotaract chapter. She graduated from SDSU in May of 2020 with a degree in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. One of the first things she did when she moved to D.C. was seek out a local Rotaract chapter. Her favorite part of Rotaract is making friends who also have a passion for "service above self." Julia currently works for a nonprofit called, Best Buddies and is pursuing her Master's in Nonprofit Leadership and Management through Arizona State University. In her free time, she enjoys doing jigsaw puzzles, walking on the beach, and exploring new coffee shops.

I first became involved in Rotary as a RYLA attendee and Interact-er in Colorado. In college, I served as the President of the Yale Rotaract Club where I obtained 2 global grants for international service projects, the Service Above Self Scholarship, and the Paul Harris Fellowship. After moving to DC in 2022 to work at an international law firm, I was very excited to join the Rotaract Club of Washington DC to get involved in my new community. I am passionate about volunteerism and I hope to pursue a career that blends service, law, and systems of care. Outside of work and Rotary, I love to cook with my friends, go on hikes, and meander around art museums!

I am a new member of the Rotaract Club, but a previous member of the Rotary Club from Texas. I relocated to Washington DC in May of 2023 in pursuit of a new career opportunity. During my time with the Rotary Club, I developed a passion for service above self and professional development. I always strive to improve my skills, create new ones, and continue to learn through all avenues. I am currently an Event Coordinator for The Texas A&M Bush School of Government and Public Service. I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Media in 2021 and hope to continue my education by pursuing a Master's at George Washington University.
Beyond my professional career, I am an avid music lover. I love to attend festivals, concerts, and collect vinyls/CDs/cassettes. I also have two cats, Beani and Maui, that traveled with me from Texas. They were both rescued from my previous job at a public library. In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer, trying new foods (but my favorite will always be spaghetti), and exploring the city.

Born in the United States and raised in Côte d’Ivoire, my relationship with Rotaract started in 2021 when my aunt (ex rotarian) recommended me to join a local club in Abidjan. Fast forward in 2022, I moved to the D.M.V. area and decided to join the Rotaract club of Washington DC. I currently work in retail and during my free time I enjoy visiting museums and going to music concerts.

I am originally from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and moved to the D.C. area around 5 years ago. I was first introduced to Rotary as a youth exchange student my senior year of high school. I now serve as the Rotary District Rotex Chair, and volunteer with the youth exchange students both inbound and outbound.
I have been involved with the Rotaract Club of Washington, D.C. at various levels throughout the five years I have lived in this area, serving in three board positions - Community Service Chair, Membership Chair, and Vice President. In my free time, I enjoy binging shows on Netflix, meeting new people, and exploring all of the wonderful sites in D.C.!
This year I would like to see our club grow in membership, fellowship, and engagement. We have a robust community of Rotaractors and Rotarians, and I would like to see us continue to grow together as we (hopefully) emerge from the pandemic. Most of all, I want us to have fun and foster meaningful connections with one another.
